The Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council (BIAHC) invites applications from artists, humanities scholars, cultural groups and organizations seeking partial financial support for cultural projects, programs, and events that benefit the Bainbridge community.  The BIAH Fund Awards Program is financially supported by the City of Bainbridge Island and managed by BIAHC with the goal of increasing access to, participation in, and awareness of the arts and humanities and multi-cultural experience.  Awards typically range from $500 to $5,000.  Last year’s funding totaled $35,000 in awards.

The new policy of directing up to 1/3 of the year’s available funding to never-before funded applicants is aimed at encouraging new projects, programs and events and a larger pool of submissions.  Funding decisions are made by a panel of arts professionals and humanities scholars who base decisions on artistic or scholarly excellence, benefit to the residents of Bainbridge Island, evidence of sound planning and fiscal management, completeness and clarity of the application and work sample submission, and compliance with application instructions.
