ABOUT EXHIBITION
Exhibition is a journal of visual and literary arts, is published by the Bainbridge Arts and Humanities Council. In serving BIAHC’s mission of creating an environment on Bainbridge Island in which the arts and humanities flourish, Exhibition encourages excellence among and provides an audience for local visual artists and writers.
The staff includes Karen Perry and Doug Nathan (literary editors), Jeanette Alexander (graphic design and production), Kathleen Thorne (copyediting and proofreading), and Juliet Schlesser (advertising).

1. NEXT ISSUE
Next issue of Exhibition Magazine
Exhibition seeks visual images plus poetry, short fiction, essays, and memoirs for its fall 2008 issue. The theme is The Senses. We invite you to submit both literary and visual art that relates to sight, sound, touch, small and taste: the sound of birds in the garden or the ambulance on the highway; the smell of rain or asphalt; the feel of the cat in your lap or the keyboard under your fingers.
2. SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION
Subscriptions to Exhibition are $14/year. Donors to BIAHC will receive a complimentary subscription.

ELIGIBLE WORKS
We welcome submissions of original art and writing by people who are residents of Bainbridge Island or the north Kitsap Peninsula, or who are connected to or inspired by these locales. If you are not a resident of Bainbridge or north Kitsap, please mention your connection to our community in your cover letter. We encourage diversity of voices, visions, and media.

Writers:
We consider submissions of short fiction, essays, memoirs, and poetry, including previously published material and simultaneous submissions if indicated as such. Submit up to five poems and/or up to two prose pieces on 8.5 x 11 white paper (one poem per page) using a plain, standard font. Please keep within 1600 words. Please include a short bio, an SASE, and a cover letter stating your connection with Bainbridge Island. We prefer E-mail. Written submissions without an SASE cannot be returned.
Visual Artists:
We welcome submissions of mixed-media, photography, painting, sculpture, electronic, and other media, including previously published or previously exhibited material and simultaneous submissions if indicated as such.
Submit up to ten pieces as 8 x 10 prints, 4 x 5 transparencies, 35 mm slides, or 300 dpi digital tiff files on disk. Include a short bio, SASE, a cover letter stating your connection with Bainbridge Island, and signed permission for reproduction from you and your photographer. Please provide for each work: title, medium, dimensions of original, and year of creation. Hard copy submissions without an SASE cannot be returned.
Notification:
Exhibition comes out just twice a year, so we may take up to 6 months to notify you about your submission. We report by mail or email only. No phone calls, please.
Contributors' Copies:
Each contributor receives a copy of the issue in which his or her work appears.
Copyright:
All rights to individual works are retained by their authors/artists. Exhibition publishes them with their permission.
